Vikings' Charles Johnson: Getting first-team reps
Johnson has been working with the first-team offense at split end during spring practices with Stefon Diggs shifting over to flanker, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis:
Laquon Treadwell, Minnesota's 2016 first-round draft pick, has been working with the second team. Johnson has likely been working with the first team just because the Vikings want to ease Treadwell into the mix, but this shows Johnson isn't finished as far as competing for playing time. Johnson emerged in the second half of the 2014 campaign, accruing 25 receptions on 46 targets for 415 yards and two touchdowns across the final seven games, but struggled last season with injuries, was phased out of the offense, and went without a catch after Week 9. He still faces an uphill battle for playing time with the Vikings likely to go with Diggs, Treadwell and Jarius Wright as the top three receiver options.
