The Carolina Panthers signed punter Mike Scifres and waived fellow punter Michael Palardy, the team announced in a statement Tuesday.
Scifres spent the first 13 years of his career with the San Diego Chargers, before being released in April, as the team elected to replace him with sixth-round pick Drew Kaser.
The 35-year-old averaged 45.3 yards per punt last season.
Scifres was drafted by the Chargers in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Western Illinois, and was named to the team's 50th anniversary team.
