After it was believed Colin Kaepernick would not be cleared for the San Francisco 49ers' three-day minicamp this week, head coach Chip Kelly said the quarterback would participate in individual drills Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

Kelly said Kaepernick won't be part of any team drills and has yet to be fully cleared, but it appears he's taken his first step toward full on-field work.

It's expected Kaepernick will be completely healthy and ready to battle Blaine Gabbert by the time training camp rolls around in July.

Kaepernick underwent surgeries on his left shoulder, right thumb, and left knee since he last played in the 2015 season.
