Redskins' Josh Doctson: Looking at red-zone role
Although Doctson tended to a sore Achilles in OTAs this week, Kirk Cousins believes the rookie wideout will be a "great weapon in the red zone," Tarik El-Bashir of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.
Analysis:
The injury concern notwithstanding, Doctson was tabbed 22nd overall last month to provide a bit of variety to a jam-packed receiving corps. Looking at Cousins' plans for the 6-foot-2, 206-pound rook, Doctson would seemingly be the other top red-zone threat with tight end Jordan Reed. Helping Doctson's cause in that realm is a 41-inch vertical leap, but in reality, his study of a voluminous playbook and chemistry with Cousins will be key in making an immediate impact as a professional.
