The New York Giants announced the signing of four 2016 draft picks Friday, including first-round cornerback Eli Apple.
Apple, selected No. 10 overall, provides yet another potential long-term piece to a suddenly improved defensive backfield.
With Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and free-agent addition Janoris Jenkins locked in as starters, the Ohio State product should compete for a nickel role during training camp.
Apple becomes the fourth first-round rookie to sign on ahead of rookie minicamps, joining Atlanta Falcons safety Keanu Neal, Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Vernon Hargreaves, and Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil.
