Bucs' Evans on Winston's weight loss: 'What happened to the belly?'
Jameis Winston has spent much of the offseason working out with Michael Jordan's former trainer and now that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have opened up offseason workouts, his teammates are taking notice.
"He lost a lot of weight. He slimmed out," Bucs receiver Mike Evans told the Tamba Bay Times on Tuesday. "I was joking with him the other day. He took his shirt off, and I said 'Man, what happened to the belly?' He's got a six-pack like me.
"He's put in a tremendous amount of work and I think it's going to be a great year for him and this whole team."
Winston was reportedly down to 230 pounds after working with Jordan's guy Tim Grover and Bucs strength coach Dave Kennedy. Winston has spent a lot of time with Evans through the offseason as well.
"Everywhere I'm at, he's trying to find me, see what I'm doing," Evans told the Times over two weeks ago. "He wants to hang out, he wants to go throw all the time, so he's doing the right things and he's a workaholic."
Left tackle Donovan Smith also commented on Winston's improved physique.
"He's in great shape -- toned up a little bit," Smith said. "He's excited and so are we."
