The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected linebacker Tyler Matakevich out of Temple in the seventh round (246th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Matakevich lacks ideal size and athleticism, but was highly productive in college and could turn out to be a steal of a pick for the Steelers if he can mask his athletic deficiencies with his superior instincts.
Matakevich won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which is awarded to the collegiate football player judged by the Football Writers Association of American to be the best defender, in 2015.
