Limited opportunities at West Ham have apparently forced teenager Reece Oxford to look elsewhere for first-team playing time.
The 17-year-old, who impressed during his senior debut in the season opener against Arsenal, agreed to join Charlton Athletic on loan until the end of the season, Matt Law of The Telegraph reported Thursday.
However, a subsequent report suggests the move fell through after Charlton Athletic coach Jose Riga nixed the loan agreement.
According to The Mirror's Darren Lewis, Riga vetoed the loan agreement because he'd never heard of Oxford.
The teams continue to negotiate a deal, Lewis reports, with West Ham optimistic Charlton will eventually accept Oxford for the remainder of the campaign.
