Northern Ireland fan in court after performing kids' party dance

The law has swooped down upon a Northern Ireland football fan captured on film performing the "Chicken Dance," also known as "The Birdie Song."

James Burns shook his tailfeathers at the side of the pitch during Norn Iron's friendly against Latvia in November, and encroached on an area where spectators are not allowed.

The supporter really laid an egg with his performance and had to face the Belfast Magistrates' Court. The court instructed him to stay away from all home internationals this year and billed him a £250 fine, plus a £15 offender levy.

Burns' ban initially could have seen him excluded from all regulated games in his homeland for up to five years, robin him of his favourite pastime, but his defence barrister was able to get this reduced for the sum of £750.
