Bisping grades Weidman's title run a C-
Michael Bisping knows how to pick a fight.
Appearing on UFC Tonight, "The Count" was eager to shovel dirt on top of Chris Weidman, who lost the middleweight title when he was pummeled in emphatic fashion by Luke Rockhold at UFC 194. Bisping gave his take on the former champion's accomplishments (or lack thereof).
"Alessio Sakara, Demian Maia, and Tom Lawlor, these are not the caliber of fighters I've been fighting," said Bisping, according to Brad Popkin of MMAmania.com. "Then Chris fought Anderson (Silva), who messes around and gets knocked out. Then (Silva) comes back and breaks his leg. Sorry those are the facts, not speculation. He's fought a bunch of has-beens. The first time he fights a real guy, he loses. God bless you Chris, good luck with the rest of your career.
"My score: I give you a C-. It's low, but still a pass."
The "has-beens" in question presumably include Silva as well as Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort. All three fighters are among the best all-time in MMA, but they were also past the age of 35 when they crossed paths with Weidman.
Weidman and Bisping have clashed before. When the Englishman criticized him earlier this year, Weidman responded by saying that Bisping is 'a joke' who he would easily submit.
Bisping is actually on a two-fight win streak, so the timing might not be right to settle his beef with the "All-American," but if the trash talk is any indication, this could be a big money match in the future.
