Weidman calls Bisping a 'joke,' says he'd sleepwalk through an easy win
Michael Bisping thinks he's one win away from a title shot, while middleweight champion Chris Weidman thinks the brash Englishman is a joke.
Following his razor-thin split-decision victory over Thales Leites at UFC Fight Night 72 last week, Bisping expressed interest in avenging his losses, and said, "It's about time I got my god-mn f-cking title shot."
With a murderers' row of potential 185-pound contenders itching to take a swing at Weidman, the middleweight overlord isn't exactly taking Bisping's challenge too seriously.
"I've got a couple tough guys, for sure," Weidman said during a fan Q&A, according to MMAFighting.com's David St. Martin. "Luke Rockhold's a tough guy. Jacare's (Ronaldo Souza) a tough guy. Yoel Romero's a scary guy. Scary looking guy. Bisping is a joke."
It's not that Weidman isn't up for the challenge, he just thinks Bisping would be a soft touch.
"I would love for him to fight for the title because I'd literally beat him sleepwalking," Weidman said. "I think I could beat him while I'm sleepwalking. He has no punching power so I can literally fall asleep while he's punching me, just get a hold of him and throw him on the floor. If he doesn't get knocked out when he falls on the floor I'll just submit him.
"I could submit him with my eyes closed. 100 percent. That's not even me talking any junk. That's just me being honest."
