Hector 'Macho' Camacho headlines list of Boxing Hall of Fame inductees

The late Hector "Macho" Camacho is among three pugilists set to be inducted into the modern fighter category of the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, N.Y. on June 12.

A three-division world champion, Camacho racked up an impressive 79-6-3 record over an illustrious 30-year career that included victories over Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, Edwin Rosario, Rafael "Bazooka" Limon, and the over-the-hill versions of Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran (twice).

Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Spanish Harlem, Camacho, who last competed in 2010, was shot by unknown assailants on Nov. 20, 2012 while sitting in the passenger seat of his best friend's car. He died of his injuries four days later.

A pair of two-division champions, Lupe Pintor and Hilario Zapata, will be inducted alongside Camacho.

Former longtime executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission Marc Ratner and famed ringside (and HBO) judge Harold Lederman will be enshrined in the non-participant category, while newspaper columnist Jerry Izenberg and broadcaster Col. Bob Sheridan will be inducted in the observer category.
