Semin reportedly KHL-bound after terminating contract with Canadiens

He may have been unwanted in the NHL, but it didn't take long for Alex Semin to find a suitor in the KHL.

Semin has agreed to a deal with Magnitogorsk Metallurg, according to Igor Eronko of sport-express.ru.

The contract is for the remainder of the 2015-16 season pending waivers, Semin's agent Todd Diamond told TSN's Frank Seravalli.

The deal comes shortly after Semin and the Montreal Canadiens agreed to terminate his one-year, $1.1-million contract after the club placed the 31-year-old on unconditional waivers, which he cleared Thursday.

Semin last suited up in the KHL for part of the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season and scored seven goals and 17 points in 20 games with Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo.
