VIDEO: Grizzlies' Matt Barnes beats Pistons with half-court heave

Justin Ford / USA TODAY Sports

Off to a wobbly start to the season, playing on the second night of a back-to-back, coming off the worst home loss in franchise history, and with their best player hobbled, the Memphis Grizzlies needed something to go right against the Detroit Pistons.

In the end, they needed something more than that. Trailing the Pistons by two points near the end of regulation (after playing from behind for the entire second half), with the clock dwindling fast and no timeouts left, the Grizzlies needed a miracle.

Enter Matt Barnes, who snatched up a Marcus Morris miss with just five seconds to play, raced upcourt, and sent up a prayer from just behind the time line.

Somewhere, someone heard it.

Heck of a way to win a ball game.
