VIDEO: Arjen Robben scores the most Arjen Robben goal ever
Every person, player, and pundit in the Cardiff City Stadium knew what was coming, and still, nothing could be done to prevent the inevitable.
Fresh from a groin injury that kept the Bayern Munich winger out for the bulk of the Bundesliga season, Dutch star Arjen Robben scored a 54th minute goal Friday in an international friendly against Wales that was the archetype of a Robben goal.
Robben received the pass on the elbow from a Quincy Promes through ball, and as he is wont to do, he cut in on his left before stupefying four Welsh defenders and firing a low shot past a diving Wayne Hennessey.
The 31-year-old midfielder completed his brace 27 minutes later to give the Netherlands a 3-2 victory, though it's hardly any consolation for Danny Blind's side, whose futility in qualifying for next summer's continental tournament was easily Europe's biggest surprise.
