VIDEO: Cam Newton gave TD ball to kid who recently lost his father

The touchdown ball a young fan received during Sunday's Carolina Panthers victory was even more special to him than quarterback Cam Newton could know.

Colin Toler's father died of a medical condition on Sept. 30, according to WSET13'S Valerie Bragg. His father had promised to take him to a Panthers game, but unexpectedly died before he got a chance, so friends of the family gave Colin tickets for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. He went with both of his grandfathers.

The 6-year-old was more than excited when he saw Newton walk his way after the touchdown.

"I was like, 'Oh gosh, oh gosh,'" Toler said. "Am I going to be on the big screen or am I going to be on TV? I was jumping up and down like, 'Yeah!'"

"The back people were like, 'Can I take your picture?' And I was like, 'Yeah.' And the side people gave me high-fives and stuff, it was pretty fun."

No thanks to Packers pass-rusher Julius Peppers, though, who decided to play a little keep away with the ball.
