Georgia's Nick Chubb undergoes knee surgery

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia star running back Nick Chubb underwent surgery Friday to repair a gruesome knee injury suffered in Week 6, according to the team.

"We are very pleased with the surgery and the procedure went extremely well," UGA Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Ron Courson said in a statement. "Following his discharge, Nick will start his rehabilitation program and we are optimistic for a full recovery."

The injury derailed Chubb's sophomore season, in which he rushed for 747 yards and seven touchdowns, and was in the conversation for the Heisman.
