Following the United States' emphatic 5-2 victory over Japan in the 2015 Women's World Cup final on Sunday, the American players gathered around two iconic, enduring faces of the national team to begin the celebrations of their historic, breathtaking victory.

Abby Wambach - the all-time leading scorer in women's soccer history - and Christie Rampone - the 40-year-old who is the only player on the squad that was a member of the 1999 World Cup winning team - both entered Sunday's match as late second-half substitutes, getting roaring ovations from the pro-American crowd inside BC Place.

In what will surely be Rampone's final World Cup - and almost definitely Wambach's as well - this was a beautiful moment.
