The Toronto Blue Jays will recall the immensely popular Munenori Kawasaki from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday after placing infielder Steve Tolleson on the 15-day disabled list due to a left groin strain.

Tolleson was omitted from the lineup in each of the last three games, allowing the Blue Jays to backdate his stint on the disabled list to May 27. Serving as the club's primary second baseman amid injuries to both Jose Reyes and Devon Travis earlier this month, Tolleson compiled an impressive .333/.417/.524 line in his last 10 games before landing on the disabled list.

Kawasaki, meanwhile, is poised for his second call-up in the last two weeks, as the 34-year-old was promoted for a three-game stint with Toronto from May 22-24 before being optioned back to Buffalo. In 27 games with the Bisons this season, Kawasaki is hitting .221/.330/.279 with five doubles and 12 walks over 101 plate appearances.
