Marlins' Stanton hits longest home run ever at Citi Field; records 15th career multi-homer game

Andy Marlin / USA TODAY Sports

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton busted out of a mini slump in a big way Saturday and made some history while he was at it.

After going 0-for-8 with five strikeouts in his previous two games, Stanton clubbed a pair of home runs against the New York Mets for his 15th multi-homer game of his career.

Stanton lofted a solo home run to right center off Jon Niese in the third inning for his 14th on the season.

The two-time All-Star added some insurance in the ninth, as his 466-foot solo home run off Alex Torres gave the Marlins a three-run lead. The blast was the furthest hit ball in the six-year history of Citi Field, according to the Mets.

Miami would go on to win 9-5 and will go for the series sweep on Sunday.
