Football Federation Australia (FFA) chairman Frank Lowy was simply going about his duty, preparing to present the Melbourne Victory with the A-League trophy after their 3-0 triumph in the league's Grand Final on Sunday.

A simple task, really, and one he's accustomed to.

But sometimes even the most simple tasks can go awry. And sometimes an 84-year-old man falls head-first off a makeshift stage and crashes down onto the pitch roughly a metre below.

Thankfully, Lowy, who was reportedly booed by the crowd earlier in the proceedings, was unscathed.

The billionaire, who assumed the role of FFA chairman in 2003, needed only minutes to recover from the frightening fall, popping back up under his own power to complete the trophy presentation.
