Real Madrid's James Rodriguez suffers right foot fracture, out up to 2 months
Real Madrid's victory Wednesday was a costly one.
Midfielder James Rodriguez suffered a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot and will be out two months, according to ESPN FC. He underwent surgery Thursday, the club announced.
Rodriguez found the back of the net Wednesday to open the scoring for Real Madrid, before suffering the injury in the 26th minute. ESPN FC has more:
The Colombian was then taken to hospital where he had X-rays on the injured foot, which confirmed a break in the fifth metatarsal. He spent 45 minutes at the clinic, accompanied by his mother and another member of his family.
Rodriguez was unable to put any weight on the foot, which was immobilised by the medical team. The player was in a wheelchair at all times.
Rodriguez has eight goals and seven assists in 20 games for Real Madrid in La Liga action.
