The Washington Redskins are expected to hire San Diego Chargers linebackers coach Joe Barry as their new defensive coordinator, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Rich Tandler of CSN Washington reported that Barry blew the Redskins away in his interview with the team.
The 44-year-old has 14 years of NFL coaching experience under his belt, including stints with the Detroit Lions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers.
In Tampa Bay, Barry worked with Redskins president Bruce Allen, defensive backs coach Raheem Morris and Jon Gruden, the brother of Redskins head coach Jay Gruden.
