Blues' Backes did not practice Thursday, undergoing further evaluation
St. Louis Blues captain David Backes did not practice Wednesday after making an early exit from a game the night before.
Backes left Tuesday's game against the Dallas Stars with an apparent head injury.
Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock indicated that Backes is undergoing further evaluation and could be back on the ice in time for Thursday's match against the Anaheim Ducks.
"We'll give you a better evaluation tomorrow," Hitchcock told the Post-Dispatch. "There is a chance the lineup won't change one bit."
Hitchcock added he took no issue with Stars defenseman Trevor Daley, who was involved in the collision that resulted in Backes' apparent injury.
"I don't think he was ... it was kind of bumping," Hitchcock said. "It was more of the way he fell."
Backes has scored two goals and added three assists in eight games so far this season.
