Report: Lawrence Frank reaches buyout with Nets, will join Clippers staff

Jesse Johnson / USA TODAY Sports

Lawrence Frank has reached a buyout agreement with the Brooklyn Nets, according to Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix, and is expected to join Doc Rivers' coaching staff with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Frank made headlines last season after the Nets assistant was reassigned to report-writing duties after a falling out with then-Nets head coach Jason Kidd.

Frank, a former New Jersey Nets and Detroit Pistons head coach, served on Rivers' staff in Boston during the Celtics' 2010-11 season.

Frank became the highest-paid assistant coach in NBA history when the Nets signed him to a reported six-year, $6-million contract.

Since then, Tyronn Lue has become the highest-paid assistant in sports history, earning a reported four-year, $6.5-million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers after serving on Rivers' staff in L.A. last season.
