VIDEO: Tito Ortiz and Stephan Bonnar announce Nov. 15 fight with major theatrics
Tito Ortiz and Stephan Bonnar are set to battle at WWE Night of Champions Bellator 131 on Nov. 15.
Pardon the mistake, but it's tough to know whether the fight a promotion is hyping is real or fake with the caliber of theatrics used Friday at Bellator 123 to announce the bout.
Bonnar, a recent signing of the promotion, and Ortiz announced they'll tussle, that much is certain. From there, there was a full-on heel promo from Bonnar, a masked man being revealed and personal insults about ex-wives, concluding with Ortiz shouting "The Bad Boy is back, baby!" And a pull-apart brawl.
It's very possible Bonnar and Ortiz really dislike each other and tempers boiled over. It's equally possible that a promotion that often crosses over with Spike TV counterpart TNA Wrestling took a page out of the wrestling handbook and upped the drama intentionally. You be the judge:
Bellator 123 saw Patricio "Pitbull" Freire defeat Pat Curran in a featherweight title fight, King Mo Lawal defeat Dustin Jacoby at light heavyweight - though Lawal says he competes at "moneyweight" - and TNA heavyweight champion Bobby Lashley defeat Josh Burns by submission.
