The Detroit Lions trimmed their running back depth Saturday as the team prepares for the NFL's 4 p.m. ET deadline for roster cuts.
According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Mikel Leshoure has been informed of his release.
As Birkett notes, the move leaves former first-round pick Nick Fairley as the only remaining player from the Lions' 2011 draft class on the team's roster.
Still just 24 years old, Leshoure should catch on with another team.
