Nogueira's draft rights, which were shipped from the Boston Celtics to the Dallas Mavericks and then to the Atlanta Hawks, were acquired by the Toronto Raptors in a trade that sent John Salmons to the Hawks. The Raptors also acquired Lou Williams in the deal.
A seven-foot center from Brazil, Nogueira, who has played with Spanish outfit Asefa Estudiantes since 2009, will likely come off the bench for Jonas Valanciunas in the upcoming season. As part of the Raptors' Las Vegas Summer League roster, he averaged 5.0 points and 5.8 rebounds over 20.3 minutes.
The signing - coupled with the Raptors' signing of point guard Will Cherry - means their roster is now full as it stands at 15 players.
