Chicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia continues to make huge strides in his recovery from shoulder surgery and is chomping at the bit to return to action.

"I want to play so bad," Garcia said via ESPN. "That's why I have been working hard every day. So let's see what happens for the next couple of days."

The 23-year-old took live batting practice Tuesday and says he's ready to progress to a minor league rehab assignment.

"Yeah, I'm pretty close," Garcia added. "I got a simulated game today and felt great. I hit a couple of balls good. I'm just waiting for the time when they sent me down."

Garcia suffered the injury way back on April 9 when he dove for a ball and amassed two homers in eight games to start the campaign.

The team has not yet announced when Garcia will begin rehabbing in the minors.
