Canucks using 2nd compliance buyout on Booth's contract

Jerome Miron / USA TODAY Sports

Vancouver Canucks winger David Booth is on waivers, his contract set to be bought out (details in the post below this one), and the Canucks announced Tuesday that his buyout will be of the compliance variety, once he clears waivers.

That means Booth's contract - he has one year at a $4.25-million cap hit left on his deal - will be terminated without having any impact on Vancouver's salary cap. It's Vancouver's second and final compliance buyout, after they bought out defenseman Keith Ballard last year.

The Canucks will pay Booth over $3.166 million over two years to not play in Vancouver.

"We wish David all the success in the future and thank him for his contributions with the Canucks," said general manager Jim Benning in a statement.

Booth got married over the weekend, The Globe and Mail's David Ebner writes. Here's to all of his new beginnings.
