Henne is on track to remain the Jaguars' starter in 2014 despite the selection of Blake Bortles on Thursday, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis:
The Jaguars took Bortles third overall Thursday night. And while he may be the future of the franchise at the quarterback position, it appears as though he won't have a chance to prove himself until 2015. Jacksonville GM David Caldwell said Friday that Henne will serve as the team's starter, enabling Bortles the chance to develop gradually. "It's such an important position in this league and you want to do it right," Caldwell said. "That's what we're about. ... We have to make it work. We can't just throw him out there. We've seen what happens when that happens." Of course, Caldwell is obviously alluding to Blaine Gabbert, who sputtered in his tenure with the Jags before the team shipped him to the 49ers earlier this offseason.
