Former Trail Blazer Arvydas Sabonis' son signs letter of intent to attend Gonzaga

Gonzaga has lured one of the top international recruits available to its basketball program, the son of Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Arvydas Sabonis, Domantas.

The 6-foot-10, 210-pound forward has been playing with a first-tier team in Spain and will turn 18 next month. He did not sign a professional contract in Europe because he has a strong desire to play collegiately in America.

"Domantas is a skilled basketball player who should have an immediate impact on our program," Bulldogs head coach Mark Few said Thursday. "We're excited to have the opportunity to allow him to continue his development as a basketball player while continuing his education."

Sabonis was named one of the best young European players of the year in 2014.
