Flyers President Peter Luukko resigns

Philadelphia Flyers president, and chief operating officer of Comcast-Spectacor, Peter Luukko, has filed his resignation from the company, citing his desire to pursue other entrepreneurial interests.

"I want to thank Ed for the opportunities that he has given me to help build Comcast-Spectacor over the past 25 years," Luukko said in a press release. "We have had a wonderful partnership, building a great company with a terrific management team. Now, I have decided that it is time for me to take advantage of the equity I have built up at Comcast-Spectacor and pursue other entrepreneurial interests."

Luukko, considered second in command behind Flyers' chairman Ed Snider as the president of the team's parent company, shocked the organization with his abrupt decision.

"We've had better days," club chairman Ed Snider told Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer. "It came out of the blue, but I guess he gave lot of thought over the holidays and decided do other things with his life."

Recently retired executive vice president Dave Scott will serve as the acting president of Comcast-Spectacor, but the Flyers will remain without a replacement, in the interim.
