The two-time reigning Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers are on the brink of elimination after losing a dramatic OT thriller to the Anaheim Ducks in Game 4 on Sunday.

Ryan Poehling was credited with the OT winner to give Anaheim a 3-1 series lead following a lengthy review to determine if the puck crossed the goal line after it squeaked between Tristan Jarry's pads.

There was no immediate ruling until the officials convened and called it a goal on the ice. The goal was upheld after an automatic review by the NHL's situation room.

Jarry, making his first start of the series, allowed four goals on 38 shots. He's now 2-7 in his postseason career.

The Oilers jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of first-period tallies from Kasperi Kapanen and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. However, Anaheim responded with back-to-back power-play goals in the second period courtesy of Cutter Gauthier and Mikael Granlund. The Ducks are now 6-for-12 with the man advantage in the series.

Evan Bouchard and Jeffrey Viel traded goals in the third period to keep the game even. Connor McDavid had a glorious opportunity to give Edmonton the lead late in the third period, but couldn't slip the puck by the outstretched pad of Lukas Dostal, who made 24 saves in the contest.

McDavid, who appears to be playing through something, logged 19:32 in the game - an unusually low amount for him. He played at least 23:50 in the first three games of the series and averaged 22:59 during the regular season.

Game 5 is Tuesday in Edmonton, where the Oilers will look to avoid their first Round 1 exit since 2021. Anaheim, meanwhile, will be seeking its first series victory since 2017.
