Alex Smalley: Share of second at Zurich Classic
Smalley and teammate Hayden Springer posted a 30-under cumulative score at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans to finish tied for second and one stroke behind winners Matt Fitzpatrick and Alex Fitzpatrick.
Analysis:
Smalley and Springer were the tournament's early frontrunners after a blistering 14-under 58 score in the opening round. They followed that up with a 10-under 62 on Saturday, and after their birdie on the 72nd hole, they found themselves tied with the duo of Kris Ventura and Kristoffer as the clubhouse leaders, though a three-team playoff did not take place after the Fitzpatrick brothers birdied the last hole. It was Smalley's first top-5 finish of 2026 and first since his T3 at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in November. He is in the field for next week's Signature Event, the Cadillac Championship.
