The Toronto Raptors are acquiring Chris Paul in a multi-team deal involving the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets, sources told Shams Charania of ESPN.

Toronto is reportedly sending wing Ochai Agbaji and a 2032 second-round pick to Brooklyn in the deal. The Raptors are expected to waive the 40-year-old guard after completing the trade, sources told NBA insider Chris Haynes. However, Toronto will reportedly look into potentially flipping Paul's $2.3-million contract ahead of Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline, Charania reports.

The move allows Toronto to get under the luxury-tax threshold, while the Clippers create a roster spot and save $7 million in tax payments, according to Charania.

Paul has not played since the Clippers sent him home from a road trip in early December, essentially ending the franchise icon's second stint with the team after five months. The 12-time All-Star played sparingly for Tyronn Lue's squad, averaging 14.3 minutes per contest while posting 2.9 points and 3.3 assists through 16 appearances off the bench.

The 40-year-old implied in November that he intended to retire following the 2025-26 campaign.
