Warriors trade Kuminga, Hield to Hawks for Porzingis

The Golden State Warriors traded Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks for Kristaps Porzingis.

Porzingis, who was a reported trade target of the Warriors for months, is averaging 17.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game this season. He landed with the Hawks in June as part of a trade from the Boston Celtics.

The 7-foot-2 center is on an expiring deal.

Meanwhile, Atlanta adds upside after moving its veteran big man. Kuminga recently requested a trade from the Warriors amid frustrations with his role on the team.

The 23-year-old wing has been left out of the rotation in multiple games this campaign. The 2021 No. 7 pick scored 10 points in nine minutes off the bench Jan. 22 before exiting his last appearance early due to injury.

Overall, Kuminga has appeared in 20 games this season (13 starts), averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

Hield's averaging 8.0 points in 17.5 minutes per game in 2025-26. He's shooting 34.4% from beyond the arc.

Golden State made a second trade Wednesday evening, sending center Trayce Jackson-Davis to the Toronto Raptors for a 2026 second-round pick (via the Los Angeles Lakers).

The Warriors also showed interest in Giannis Antetokounmpo ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, but their pursuit of the two-time NBA MVP is now over.
