The Kansas City Royals and All-Star third baseman Maikel Garcia are finalizing a five-year contract extension with a club option for a sixth year, sources told Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Garcia's new pact will be worth a guaranteed $57.5 million but can reach into the $85-million range with the club option and escalators, a source told Anne Rogers of MLB.com.
The deal will cover four years of arbitration and buys out two years of free agency, according to Passan.
Garcia slashed .286/.351/.449 with 16 homers, 74 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases over 160 games in 2025. He also had a 121 wRC+ with 5.6 fWAR.
The 25-year-old finished in the 98th percentile in outs above average and 79th in arm strength en route to winning his first Gold Glove.
