Nathan MacKinnon will live with J.S. Giguere this year
Colorado Avalanche center and former Halifax Moosehead Nathan MacKinnon will spend his rookie season living with veteran goaltender and fellow Mooseheads alumnus Jean-Sebastian Giguere.
Giguere told the Denver Post that he's set up his house so that MacKinnon will have some "privacy" and a "nice little setup" at the Giguere family home in Colorado. "I think it’s good for a young guy like that to be in a family environment," said the former Conn Smythe winner before adding, "My kids are super-excited. They have a new buddy to play with.”
MacKinnon doesn't seem at all upset about the arrangement, particularly the free home cooked meals on offer at the Giguere household.
The 2013 first overall pick joins fellow Cole Harbor native and first overall pick Sidney Crosby on the list of famous NHL rookie house guests. Crosby, you may recall, lived with Penguins owner Mario Lemieux during his rookie season, and for four years thereafter when he first broke into the league.
