Oscar Piastri: Penalty for Impeding

Piastri has been handed a three-place grid drop for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix after impeding Kevin Magnussen during Q1 of Saturday's qualifying hour, Formula1.com reports.

Analysis:

Unfortunately for the young McLarren driver, his outstanding P2 qualifying effort is nullified by an incident during Q1. The stewards would rule that Piastri had impeded Magnussen in turns 2 and 3 during Q1. He will suffer a three-place grid penalty and now roll off P5 Sunday at Imola. Piastri has good pace and should be able to overcome this penalty, but it will now be some uphill work to make the podium.
