Pippen: We helped make Jordan the GOAT
Scottie Pippen has had his issues with Michael Jordan in recent years but still thinks highly of what his former Chicago Bulls teammate was able to accomplish on the court.
During a recent appearance on the "Today Show Australia," Pippen was asked if he considers Jordan to be the greatest basketball player of all time. Pippen didn't hesitate to answer yes, though he thinks the Bulls' success as a team helped make Jordan the GOAT.
"Oh, for sure. I mean, you look at the MVPs that he was able to achieve," the Hall of Famer said. "But I think it was all brought from us being successful as a team. Obviously, someone's gonna bring those accolades home. But yeah, he was the greatest player, definitely, in basketball."
The comments are a contrast to what Pippen said on former teammate Stacey King's "Gimme the Hot Sauce" podcast last year when he declared LeBron James "will be the greatest statistical guy to ever play the game of basketball."
Pippen has been critical of Jordan since the release of "The Last Dance" in 2020, particularly with the way he and some of his other former teammates were depicted in the documentary series. both players were absent for the Bulls' inaugural Ring of Honor celebration in January.
