Mark Zuckerberg is throwing cold water on Elon Musk's latest statement about a potential bout between the two tech billionaires.

Musk announced Friday morning on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he and Zuckerberg would be staging a cage match at an "epic location" in Rome. He also tweeted that the fight would be managed by his and Zuckerberg's respective foundations, not the UFC.

Zuckerberg, however, refuted Musk's claims in a series of posts on his social media platform Threads and said he wants the UFC or Singaporean-based promotion ONE Championship to be involved.

"Not holding my breath for Elon, but I'll share details on my next fight when I'm ready," the Meta co-founder wrote. "When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional (organizations) like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card."

"I love this sport, and I've been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me," he added. "If he ever agrees on an actual date, you'll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on."

UFC president Dana White expressed interest in helping to organize the Musk-Zuckerberg bout during an appearance on "TMZ Live" in May, saying he thinks it could surpass the revenue generated by the 2017 fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
