Miles Bridges suspended 30 games after domestic violence probe
The NBA has suspended free-agent forward Miles Bridges 30 games after he was arrested last year for a domestic violence incident involving the mother of his children, the league announced Friday.
Bridges pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge in November, agreeing to do so in exchange for three years probation and no jail time. Two other counts against him were dismissed.
The NBA determined the length of the suspension following its own investigation. It interviewed the involved parties and third-party witnesses, and considered the outcome of the criminal matter before deciding on the suspension. The league also spoke with a group of domestic violence experts for guidance in Bridges' case.
The NBA deemed that Bridges, who didn't play in 2022-23, served 20 games of the suspension, meaning he'll miss 10 contests if he signs with a team.
Bridges entered free agency last summer following a breakout 2021-22 campaign, averaging career highs in points (20.2), rebounds (seven), and assists (3.8) over 80 appearances for the Charlotte Hornets.
The Hornets said Friday that they're aware of the league's decision to suspend Bridges but provided no further comment.
The Michigan State product has spent his entire career in Charlotte after being selected 12th overall in 2018.
