New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum went straight to the source to confirm whether Kevin Durant had been dealt to the Phoenix Suns ahead of the trade deadline.

On the latest episode of "The CJ McCollum Show," McCollum explained how he was in such disbelief after learning the former Brooklyn Nets star had been traded that he sent a text message to a group chat he shares with Durant to verify the news.

"I just happened to check my phone, it was like nine minutes ago, Kevin Durant was traded," McCollum said. "I was like, 'What? This is weird.' So then I text K, and I said, 'Is this real?' He said, 'Yeah, it's real,' and I just started laughing, like, oh goodness."

McCollum said one of the reasons he questioned the validity of the trade was because the news broke so late.

"It's midnight, 12:30 CT, which is 1:30 a.m. ET. I'm like, 'This is kind of late for a trade to be going through, like is this really Woj's handle?'" McCollum said. "Now I'm questioning myself, like, 'I'm following the right (Adrian Wojnarowski) and the right Shams (Charania), right?' And (Durant's) like, 'Yeah,' and the group chat is like, 'Yeah, this is true.'"

The Nets dealt Durant and T.J. Warren to the Suns for a package that included Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, four first-round selections, and a 2028 pick swap.
