Phillies ink Dominguez to 2-year extension with club option for 2025
The Philadelphia Phillies and right-handed reliever Seranthony Dominguez agreed to a two-year contract with a club option for the 2025 campaign, the team announced Thursday.
Dominguez will earn $2.5 million this season and $4.5 million in 2024. The Phillies' option for 2025 is worth $8 million or a $500K buyout, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
Dominguez emerged as one of Philadelphia's most trusted bullpen arms in 2022, registering a 6-5 record with nine saves, a 3.00 ERA, and 10.76 K/9 across 51 innings pitched (54 appearances).
The 28-year-old appeared in just one game across the 2020 and 2021 campaigns as he recovered from Tommy John surgery.
The hurler will be a member of a revamped Phillies bullpen in 2023. The club also acquired left-handers Gregory Soto and Matt Strahm and right-hander Craig Kimbrel this offseason.
Dominguez owns a career 11-10 record with 25 saves, a 3.14 ERA, 3.14 FIP, and 11.03 K/9 in 135 appearances.
