Red Bull's Max Verstappen won the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, claiming his fifth straight victory as he continues to dominate the drivers' standings.

Verstappen started in seventh position after receiving a grid penalty, but he had no trouble pushing his way to the front before cruising to his eleventh race win of the season behind a late safety car.

Ferrari fans made their feelings known, as boos filled the Monza race site during the final lap and post-race interviews.

Charles Leclerc, who started on pole position, finished second in front of Ferrari's home audience, while Carlos Sainz ended up fourth behind Mercedes' George Russell.

"The end was frustrating. I wish we could have ended up racing. It's a shame. I gave it all. I wish I could have won in front of the amazing tifosi," Leclerc said.

Williams driver Nyck De Vries finished ninth and received points during his F1 debut while filling in for Alex Albon. Albon missed the race after he was diagnosed with appendicitis.

Verstappen, 24, can mathematically clinch the drivers' championship during the season's next race in Singapore.
