Antony speaks out after Ajax reportedly reject United's €90M bid
Ajax have rejected Manchester United's €90-million offer for Antony and are holding out for a higher price for the winger, according to The Guardian's Jamie Jackson and Fabrizio Romano.
United's bid marked a €10-million improvement on their last approach for the Brazilian international.
Antony, 22, spoke out after Ajax reportedly turned down the lucrative offer, saying he's eager to leave to pursue his "dreams" abroad.
"Since February of this year, my agents came to Amsterdam to inform Ajax of my desire to leave the club to face new challenge and that some interested clubs would arrive and with them, certainly a great offer," Antony told Romano and Jackson.
"During the (transfer) window months, meetings continued, and I also received a proposal from Ajax for contract renewal. I made it clear once again: I want to leave."
Erik ten Hag, who swapped the Johan Cruyff Arena for Old Trafford at the end of last season, already paid big money to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax this summer.
Antony has scored 18 goals and assisted 14 times over 57 Eredivisie appearances since joining Ajax from Sao Paulo in February 2020.
