Abraham Ancer becomes latest TOUR player to join LIV Golf

Abraham Ancer became the most recent TOUR player to join Greg Norman's Saudi-backed LIV Golf series when the 31-year-old announced his commitment Tuesday.

"This is not a decision I have taken lightly," Ancer said in a statement. "I am incredibly grateful and would like to thank the PGA TOUR for the opportunities I have had in my career up to this point."

Ancer said that playing the LIV Golf series will give him more time to focus on growing the game in his home country of Mexico. He said he is also excited to have more time to focus on his "endeavors outside of the game of golf."

He has one win on the PGA TOUR, the 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. He is currently No. 20 on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Dustin Johnson, the world No. 16, is the highest-ranked player to leave the TOUR for LIV Golf. Brooks Koepka, who reportedly committed to the Saudi-backed series earlier Tuesday, is ranked No. 19.
