Report: Most Nats players available, Turner getting plenty of interest

The Washington Nationals have hung the "For Sale" sign in the window.

Washington is telling rival clubs that all of its players not named Juan Soto are available for trade, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

One star Nationals player receiving plenty of interest ahead of Friday's deadline is shortstop Trea Turner, a source told Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post.

While dealing Turner may seem unfathomable, there are some rumblings that a contract extension isn't in the cards, which could make a trade more likely either this week or in the offseason.

No specific teams have yet been linked to the 28-year-old. Turner has exclusively played shortstop since 2017 but has experience at second base and center field. He has one more year of arbitration before hitting free agency ahead of the 2023 campaign.

A first-time All-Star this summer, Turner is hitting .319/.367/.521 with 18 home runs and 21 stolen bases over 94 games. He finished seventh in NL MVP voting in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
