The Heisman Trophy Trust said in a statement Friday it's willing to return Reggie Bush's Heisman Trophy if the NCAA reinstates the former USC running back's status for the 2005 season.

"Bush's 2005 season records remain vacated by the NCAA and, as a result, under the rule set forth by the Heisman Trust and stated on the Heisman ballot, he is not eligible to be awarded the 2005 Heisman Memorial Trophy," the statement read. "Should the NCAA reinstate Bush's 2005 status, the Heisman Trust looks forward to welcoming him back to the Heisman family."

The Heisman Trust's response comes a day after Bush called out the organization and NCAA for refusing to give back his award or reinstating his collegiate records.

Bush won the Heisman Trophy in 2005 but relinquished the award five years later after the NCAA determined he received benefits while at USC. He racked up 2,218 scrimmage yards and 18 touchdowns that year.

The NCAA approved an interim policy allowing student-athletes to profit off their name, image, and likeness earlier this week. Additionally, the Supreme Court recently ruled that the NCAA can't limit certain education-related benefits for student-athletes.

Bush, 36, amassed 4,470 total yards and 38 touchdowns through three seasons with the Trojans before being picked second overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 2006 NFL Draft.
